We want to understand the processes controlling the distribution of biodiversity in ice-free areas in the Ross Sea region by biogeographically characterising all forms of terrestrial biota for the Ross Sea region and developing an interactive model to predict the effects of projected climate scenarios on the biota. We will be based near Spaulding Pond in Taylor Valley from which we will visit the Wright Valley and the McKelvey Valley on day trips to carry out field trials for instrumentation. We will also spend a couple of days in Miers Valley to service and redeploy instrumentation for long-term monitoring and experiments.
