Site specific guidelines and maps for Facilities, Scientific, Restricted and Visitor Zones in the ASMAFacilities ZonesFacilities Zones have been designated to contain temporary and semi-permanent facilities within pre-defined areas and thereby control their distribution and footprint. There are eleven sites designated as Facilities Zones in the Area. Scientific ZonesThe Scientific Zones have been designated to raise visitor awareness of specific sites of current and on-going scientific research. There are two sites designated as Scientific Zones. Restricted ZonesThe Restricted Zones have been designated at sites of high scientific value and which are particularly sensitive to human disturbance. There are eight sites designated as Restricted Zones. Access to Restricted Zones should be for compelling reasons that connot be served elsewhere eithin the Area. Visitor ZoneThe Visitor Zone has been designated to manage the activities of visitors, including program personnel, tourists or non-governmental expeditions, to reduce potential impacts to the environment. There is currently one site designated a Visitor Zone, located in the Taylor Valley near the Canada Glacier terminus.
